Tommy Cornelis grew up in the Quad Cities, on the border of Iowa and Illinois and moved to Washington, DC in 2004 to study international affairs at The George Washington University. After college in 2008, Tommy began working on several political and issue-based campaigns, and started using social media professionally to enhance his community organizing efforts. He then used that experience to research and creating digital content for the launch of the STEMconnector website in 2011. After the launch, Tommy started working on social media for STEMconnector, and since then his responsibilities have expanded to Director of Digital Content. His new role now includes e-mail marketing, blogging, web content, and social media. Tommy oversaw the creation of STEMdaily, and continues to produce it everyday, Monday-Friday! He also oversees EdTech Weekly Report, the STEM Blog, and STEMconnector’s social media presence. Outside of work, Tommy is passionate about music, and uses his free time on the weekends to DJ around DC. He lives in the LeDroit Park neighborhood of DC with his partner John and their 3-legged rescue pup, Tripp.
