DLR group

DLR Group is an integrated design firm providing architecture, engineering, planning, and interiors services. We are a nationally recognized expert in K-12 school facilities design and have completed more than 2,000 school projects nationally in the last 10 years. Founded in 1966, DLR Group has grown in the past 50 years into a leading design firm, recognized for design excellence as well as service and quality.

At the core of our integrated design firm are collaborative, interdisciplinary teams who champion true collaboration, open information sharing, shared risk and reward, value-based decision making, and proficient use of technology to elevate design. The outcome is sustainable design of a high performance building for a sustainable future.

DLR Group understands the complex demands of the world today. We know the value of STEM education in offering students the unique opportunity to create pathways for future professional success. DLR Group is a trusted advisor to institutions seeking to provide spaces for their students that allow for the development of career readiness. We believe integrated design is the practice of early collaboration in order to produce sustainable design excellence. A robust co-design process empowers teachers, students, school leaders, architects, and others to co-create transformational learning spaces, including the incorporation of flexible, adaptive, personalized, learner-centered spaces.

Our teams are constantly striving to understand the needs of 21st century students. This means we perform ongoing research and outreach to ensure we are creating learning spaces that allow for a more student-centric approach that supports success and encourages engagement. In recent years, DLR Group has partnered with districts on student advancement programs, including the Waukee Aspiring Professional Experience Program (APEX) and the Blue Valley Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS). In 2016, we hosted several Student Innovation Challenges, allowing participants to engage in inquiry driven, project-based learning as they worked together to craft creative solutions to real-world problems.
